I love attending photography workshops given by other pros. I find especially in this type of profession, there’s always something new to learn. It’s not just about learning how to use your SLR camera. Its about being able to see the “light” and the world from a unique perspective through your lens. As Fer put it, “looking at the world through a child’s eyes”, where anything and everything can become a part of the story.
I had been following Fer Juaristi’s work for some time now ever since he photographed my friend Alex’s wedding in Mexico. His work was beyond anything that I had ever seen before – I don’t think anyone could ever classify his work as “traditional” wedding photography. It’s most definitely a unique art form and that’s what I loved about it. I was so captivated and inspired by his artistic vision that I was thrilled to hear that he was going to be in town for one of his Fershops. It was well worth the 3 1/2 hour drive to Boston! I learned so much and can’t wait to evolve some of the learnings into own style.
Here’s one of Fer in action:
